“NFL football fields, High school, and college football fields have the same area. A standard football field is 120 yards (360 feet) in length. Out of it, the playing field is 100 yards (300 feet) in length, and each end zone measures 10 yards which is 30 feet deep. The area has a same width of 53 1/3 yards (160 feet).

  • One NFL football field is equivalent to 1.32 acres.

American football field

An American football field has a width of 53 1/3 yards (160 feet) and 120 yds (360 feet) long. If we calculate the entire football field area, including the end zones, we get (360 x 160) 57,600 square feet. One acre of land measures 43,560 square feet. So a football field is 1.32 acres in size.

Let’s see how many acres are in the football field by calculating the measurements.

  • The football field is 100 Yards (300 ft.) long.
  • It has two endzones that are 10 Yards (30 ft.) each.
  • So, including the end zones, the football field is 360 ft. long.
  • The football field is 53 1/3 Yards (160 ft.) wide.

∴ 360 ft. x 160 ft. = 57,600 sq. ft.

∵ An acre is 43,560 sq. ft.

     57,600 sq. ft. ÷ 43,560 sq. ft. = 1.3224 acres.

∴ a football field = 1.3224 acres

Not counting the endzones, a football field is just a little larger than an acre.
